Step-by-Step Application Process
- Visit the Hope Scholarship Portal — Use the Hope Scholarship button to go to the West Virgiina website to create a family account
- Complete the application — Enter your child’s information, grade level, and proof of West Virginia residency
- If the student participated in 2025-26, to remain eligible for the Hope Scholarship Program, the Account Holder MUST submit an Annual Continued Participation Confirmation through the online Hope Scholarship portal by a certain deadline which is published on the Hope Scholarship website. A student who does not file an Annual Continued Participation Confirmation by the deadline but later wishes to participate in the Program will lose any carryover funds remaining in thier account and be required to apply for the Hope Scholarship as a new Student under the eligibility requirments for new studentss at the time of application.

- Wait for approval — The State Treasurer’s Office reviews applications and notifies families
- Begin receiving funds — First distribution by August 15
- Funding includes funds for private or parochial tuition and fees at a participating school among other options.
- Use your Hope Scholarship portal to complete all payments of the Hope Scholarship funds to education service providers and vendors electronically.
- Within the Hope Scholarship portal select the participating school, like NFC Academy, to intiiate the proecess to use the Hope Scholarship funds to pay for tuition and fees. The nonpublic school like, NFC Academy, will complete the enrollment process in the online portal and parents will click on the Pay Tuition Tab to confirm their child’s enrollment at the school and the accuracy of the tuiton amount before payment is made.
