My Classroom At NFC Academy
Dr. Jessica Beecher, SLPD, CCC-SLP
I am a lifelong learner and self-described academician with a love for seeking, researching, acquiring, and sharing knowledge. My schooling includes degrees from Northwestern University (Doctor of Speech Pathology), the University of Alabama (MS, Communicative Science Disorders), the University of Montevallo (BS, Speech-Language Pathology), and Virginia Tech (BS, Biology; BA, English); I am additionally certified through the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association and hold multi-state licensures as a practicing speech pathologist. Professionally, I enjoy all things science-related with particular clinical interests in treating swallowing dysfunction in adults with developmental disabilities. I have had the privilege to work for the last 15 years as a speech pathologist, and for the last 6 years as a middle and high school Science teacher with NFC Academy.
In my personal life, I make my home in Marianna, Florida, where I enjoy spending time with my husband, Eddy, and our five animals – sweet pups Meaux and Nikko, and friendly felines Fern, Ollie, and Finn. I also enjoy hiking, jogging, kayaking, camping, reading, traveling, and finding/sharing corny jokes. I love the outdoors and, as with many Floridians, I really enjoy spending time at the beach, marveling in its beauty and in the One who created it.
I desire to serve my students and their families with joy and encouragement, helping to inspire confidence in my students’ knowledge base and to promote their curiosity for science and their love for learning. I look forward to working with you!
