Getting Started at NFC Academy
You have made the decision to enroll at NFC Academy. We want to answer any questions you have and if we have not, we recommend you attend one of our live online Open House conferences led by our Admissions Office.
When you are ready…the next steps will be:
- To complete the online application on the website. Click Apply Now and you will be taken to the page to make the application.
- For students in grades 1 and up we will need the academic records and a copy of the birth certificate. To facilitate getting started we can get you started with the unofficial records if you have them. It is important that they are accurate so there are no surprises later.
- You will receive from the Academy a listing of the courses your child is scheduled to take…if it is accurate sign it and we will get started. When you sign the form electronically it automatically notifies us and we have the copy.
- We will get everything ready and you will need to make the initial tuition payment and your child will be ready to start work.

Finish Your School Year
As an accredited private school, NFC Academy meets compulsory attendance requirements for our students. There is flexibility in our homeschool program related to your daily schedule and taking time off from school.
Students may start their school year at any time of the calendar year and they will have their own unique school year meeting the standard 180/90 school day for the year/semester requirement.
A student’s school year can be extended beyond the regular school year up to two additional months which would be a calendar year if the student has made consistent academic progress. Medical reasons and other emergencies like long-term interruptions of services due to weather issues does allow for further extensions to be considered.
Some Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Work Is Expected To Be Completed
NFC Academy enrolls all learners in the standard 180-day year or 90-day semester for their academic work.
Attendance at NFC Academy is a parent/guardian-controlled decision. We note often that there is flexibility in the schedules of our students and the days taken off are the responsibility of the parent/guardian and the student to manage. No absence must be reported to us, but you can report to us if you choose.
However, it is essential that students engage in their work primarily for the benefit of continued learning and progressing to the next level of work as they go from grade to grade each year. It is our policy to monthly assess how each student is progressing in their courses. A part of that process includes notifying parents and learners of the work progress.
In the Online Program students should complete about three percent (3%) of the course work each week. Let’s follow the math…in a school year there are 36 school weeks…multiply 36 school weeks times (x) the 3% it would equal 108% which means there is some time left over which could be in a unit that takes more time, possibly there is a period the student does not feel well and miss some time, and there are other reasons you could use up that extra 8% and still finish on time.
We do academic reports each month except we combine November and December. If a student does no work during a reporting period then that gets our attention and we will try to get your attention. There will be calls and emails to find out what the problem is and we will engage with the family and student setting weekly goals until our next report. If no work were to continue the student would be placed on Academic Probation as we attempt to engage the student and family to ensure academic work begins. If a student fails to engage with us as a result of no work over two periods they could be withdrawn with grades recorded as an “F” in all subjects for failure to make academic progress.
It is important that everyone is engaged in the academic process for the student’s success. In homeschooling that includes the school and teachers, the student, and most importantly the home parents or guardians.
Does NFC Academy Academic Program Meet Special Needs
Home education has much flexibility, but there are also expectations when parents desire their child’s work to be accredited, which may diminish some flexibility of an at-home education with few guidelines. Parents should evaluate any home education provider to determine details about the academic curriculum used. If a parent has their own home education plan they can pick and choose curriculums using one for language arts, another for math and other choices for other core courses. That is a flexibility you can follow, but not typically so in an accredited school. While the curriculums used at NFC Academy are given high reviews in general evaluations of Christian school curriculums with a biblical worldview, it could be possible they are not suited for a need one family may have for their child. For example, none of the curriculums used by NFC Academy are designed to meet specific diagnosed learning needs. That does not mean they may not be successful for “Student A” with a certain learning need, but none of our curriculums would fall in that category. At NFC Academy students have the option of trying our Ignitia online curriculum before enrolling and samples of our Print-Based curriculums are available on this website.
What Do I Need To Know To Homeschool In My State
NFC Academy is a private school registered as such in the State of Florida with the Florida Department of Education. We are accredited as a private school by Cognia/SACS, the Middle States Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Education and the Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools and a member of the National Council of Private School Accreditation.
NFC Academy follows the statutory responsibilities of the Florida Departement of Education in our operation. Because of the vast number of counties in the United States and other governing bodies around the world we do not know the specifics of their requirements. It would be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to determine if NFC Academy meets all requirements of any specific requirements of another local, state, national or other governing authority.
What If I Decide To Leave
Need to withdraw from your courses? Our hope is that you will stay with us, but if that is your decision we will work to make your withdrawal as easy as possible.
Online Grades 3-12 – NFC Academy encourages online students to use our Try An Online Lesson Now page before enrollment and parents have our 14-Day Money Back Guarantee for any new online students where any tuition paid will be refunded if leaving during that period. The Registration Fee of $100 and the Reservation Fee of $20 would be non-refundable. After the 14-Day Money Back Guarantee, withdrawals fall under our one-semester requirement. Enrollment in all online programs at NFC Academy is for a minimum of one semester. If a student leaves during the first semester the balance of tuition for that semester is due along with the withdrawal fee. After the first semester, the only thing due upon transfer is the withdrawal fee of $75 per student when withdrawing during the semester and any unpaid tuition for the period attended during that semester. There are no withdrawal fees when withdrawing at the end of a semester.
When we receive the formal request to withdraw, the withdrawal process will be completed within about five (5) business days.
Book Program Kindergarten – 4th Grade – Enrollment in the book program is for a minimum of one semester. Once books are shipped, the tuition for the semester becomes due and costs spread over payments, paid annually or semi-annually. Those who select our monthly payment option would have the balance for the semester due upon notification for withdrawal. We usually only ship books by the semester because of accreditation requirements for the completion of one semester before further work is done. If both semester of books are shipped then it is important to complete academic work in order starting with the day one assignment. If the full year was paid in full and the student left NFC Academy at the end of the first semester the balance paid for the year would be refunded. Withdrawal during the semester has a $75 withdrawal fee, but there is no withdrawal fee for leaving at the end of the semester.
If we have failed to meet your expectations, we do ask that you share with us the specific areas we missed and we will review and if making a change does not run against accreditation or statutory requirements we will try to make adjustments.
NFC Academy will forward your records to the next school to be attended once the process is completed. Click here and complete the Withdrawal Form.
