Welcome to My Class
—Welcome to My Classroom – Mrs. Marian Foulks—
My Classroom At NFC Academy

My name is Marian Foulks. I have been with the Academy for seven years. I received my graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of South Florida.I have taught in the classroom for most of my adult life. I have also served as a school administrator. For eight years I was in the College of Education at Clearwater Christian College. While I was there, I taught Remedial English and other education courses.
I am married to the love of my life. We have one daughter, a son-in-law, and six grandchildren. I love all things Florida–the beach, college football, the Bucs, Publix, and sunshine. But even more than that, I love being a mother and a grammy.
I hope to use my many experiences in education to teach and encourage your students.

Why Is English Important
The Language Arts can provide tools to express oneself clearly and effectively through speaking, writing, and other forms of communication. It encourages critical thinking by prompting students to analyze information, form opinions, and evaluate evidence.
English is the most widely spoken and written language in the world. This means that English allows individuals from diverse linguistic backgrounds to communicate effectively. In international business, science, technology, and diplomacy, English is often the medium through which crucial information is exchanged. Whether working in a STEM field or a creative industry, strong language arts skills can be an advantage for any professional.
Learning English opens a wealth of cultural treasures. From the Old and New Testaments in the Bible to Shakespeare’s plays, understanding English grants access to a rich tapestry of human expression and creativity. Reading about characters and situations from different backgrounds can help individuals develop a compassionate perspective of the world.
