God put us here in Florida!  There’s no other way to explain it!

Back in the fall of ’86, we were living in a small village just above Beaver Stadium, Penn State’s football field. I was a teacher and my husband was the custodian at Center County Christian Academy in Bellefont, PA. We didn’t know what we were going to do in the fall of ‘87 because the academy had decided to try to accomplish Tom’s job with volunteer labor. In other words, he was being let go in June. A friend had told him about an opening for an assistant maintenance manager at a large Christian school in Tallahassee, FL. advertised in “The Sword of the Lord” early that spring. Tom called, but they showed no interest in him because he wasn’t familiar with AC.  (Of course not! He was used to getting up at 5AM to go plow 2 feet of snow off the school parking lot!!) 

 For some reason, he couldn’t find work. There it was…. Memorial Day weekend and we still didn’t know what we were going to do!. On that Monday evening, we received a phone call from a board member at Temple Baptist Church in Tallahassee. This man was asking Tom why they hadn’t heard from him and where was his application! We were flabbergasted!! Our heads were spinning. When the man heard that I had taught in several Christian schools, he was interested in both of us. We came down to Tallahassee during July 4th week, signed our contracts, and found a place to live. We went home, packed up our household, and were back down in Tallahassee on August 1st. Those 2 months just flew by! God had it all planned. When someone asks me what brought us to Tallahassee, I have to smile and say “God Did!”

 I taught 10 years in the classroom at North Florida Christian high school. I enjoyed that very much. I loved working there with the other teachers. Since I am home and teaching for the Academy, I can enjoy messaging and visiting with my students.  I am able to spend more time with my husband and can also enjoy my sewing and taking care of my pets.

 We have been here in Florida since 1987 and the Lord has been very good to us. He knew all along exactly where He wanted us and exactly what he wanted us to do!
