Digital Sites for Your Research
World’s # 1 Encylopedia
There are many online resources for students to use for their research and personal study. This website offers students significant resources for their studies no matter the student’s residence. Some similar resources are available in state and city libraries requiring actions to gain access and residency is ofter a requirement.
It is our goal to make access to research resources easy to get to for our students. We remind users we do not have control over the content of websites made available so care should be used using each site on the web.
Google Books
Google Books helps you search within and discover books. When you find a book that is under copyrights, you typically see only a small portion of book at a time…either the Snippet View of the Sample Pages view plus links to places where you can buy or borrow the book. If the book is available on Google Books, you can click and read free. To purchase a book you will need to have a Google account. There will be books you can download for free. There are limitations on the free feature allowing users only to read a certain percent of the book for free. We recommend care be used in this online resources as we have no control related to its content.
Digital Public Library of America
The Digital Public Library of America is open for the public domain and has archives available online. The library was launched in April 2013. Their website notes that educators and students explore our Primary Sources to discover history and culture through primary sources and ideas for classroom use.
As with all Internet-based resources we recommend that care be used in accessing resources of which we have no control.
Library of Congress
The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with millions of books, films and video, audio recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections. The Library is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress and the home of the U.S. Copyright Office.
The Library preserves and provides access to a rich, diverse and enduring source of knowledge to inform, inspire and engage you in your intellectual and creative endeavors. Whether you are new to the Library of Congress or an experienced researcher, there is a world-class staff ready to assist you online.
We remind users that we do not have control over the content of websites made available so care should be used using each site on the web.
